the big finish

I managed to finish the balloon bag straps and closure. That will have to be enough of a big finish for this year.
I also started knitting a hat. I know, what does that have to do with inkle weaving? Well, it is knitted by an inkle weaver. and maybe it will have an inkle woven label.
It could happen.

thinking about weaving

Does thinking about weaving count? If texting while driving is not allowed, I am pretty sure that weaving while driving is also not allowed.
Too much driving this week. hopefully soon, I will get more weaving done.
Til then, I will just think about weaving.

Oh, the flying monkeys

warping in the dark. done it before. not that hard.

warping in the dark with flying monkeys? Not for the faint of heart. (see photo)

Went to 'The Wizard of Oz' at the Childrens Theater Company in Minneapolis. always a pleasure, wonderful show. Tried warping during intermission. should maybe have written a pattern draft first...

My warp needs one slight adjustment before I can weave.

I will add photos as I am able.

Then I will weave.

nearly done on the first coaster.
finished the first thrum warp.
ready to begin weaving for the balloon bag straps.

3 down, 30 to go. How many day's 'til Christmas?

made yarn doll angels with 2nd thru 6th grade children-with laryngitis. whispering instructions to non-fiber translators/human megaphones was awesome.

wove in church today. I feel like starting a life list of all the places I have woven.

wove on an airplane.
wove in a tree.
wove outside.
wove during a tornado.
wove in a tent.
wove while pregnant.
wove on a roadtrip.
wove holding a baby.
wove at the stork house.
wove in a theater.
wove at the chiropractors.
wove while walking.

now must sleep.

not really. but it could happen

having a cold makes it hard to care about weaving, or holidays, or anything for that matter.

Maybe tea will help.

warping, weaving, waffling.

wove on the inkle, and warped a nomi. we'll see how the nomi warp turned out. I took thrums.... yes thrums, from my friends floor loom and and tied two groups together one by one with an overhand knot to make each individual warp double the length. I kept the color sequence, and may end up with something beautiful.
found the camera.
lost the camera.

off to bake cookies.

missing camera

stupid missing camera.

how am I supposed to take pictures of my finished weaving without the camera?

At the weavers christmas potluck I had 2 balloon bags, 1 balloon bag bag, 2 knitted baby hats-one with ties, one soon to get ties, and two-thirds of a sock.
Now for more coasters. yes, just because I can.

Saturday, December 3, 2011

the balloon bag has travelled far and wide this week. just not in front of a camera.

Only two days until I have a block of time to do weaving.

how are you counting down to Christmas?

Proof

Proof that you can use 100 inches of inkle band weaving for a coaster. complete with bead embellishments.
wow. with the lack of posting you might think I had taken a year off of weaving.

Not so.

I was weaving instead of writing about weaving.

I wove with bags. I wove with balloon bags and then I wove with...(drumroll please...) balloons. Yes, twisty stretchy balloons. I even won a blue ribbon for my effort. Don't worry, I will try harder next year.

I also wove bands, and in October 2011, I made a coaster with 100 inches of inkle band. Why you ask? just because I could. It was so much fun, I made A SECOND ONE TO MATCH.

Now I suppose you want proof. (sigh) let me find my camera.
